Hello! We are the Tenku Festival Food Department and we are introducing our top 10 Beppu restaurants picks in our "Beppu Tenku Restaurant" event.
The Tenku Festival is unfortunately online again this year due to the coronavirus which is why we wanted to do something that would include the restaurants that had originally planned to have a food stall if the festival was held on campus. After some discussion, we came up with the idea to introduce each place via video and blogs. We can guarantee that you will want to try our restaurant picks after watching! This time we are introducing "Karaage Miyabi"!
Karaage Miyabi is a very popular restaurant that has been selling cheese chicken and fried chicken at APU for over 8 years.
Currently, they sell their chicken in front of AP House on Tuesdays and Fridays. On other days, they sell their chicken in their shop near Kyushu Odan Doro.
The most recommended dishes for APU students are "cheese chicken" and "spicy cheese chicken". The chicken is filled with plenty of cheese, oba, and aurora sauce which is very popular among APU students.
Their "spicy cheese chicken" uses enough spices to make even people who like spicy foods feel the "spice", so it is a dish that can satisfy international students who particularly love spicy foods. (The owner supposedly struggled to find the right spice combination that was spicy enough to satisfy international students!)
Fun Fact: An impressive memory at APU is that nearly 200 cheese chickens were sold on the day of the stage performance at the wave during Korean week!
He said that it takes a day to prepare cheese chicken even on normal sales day, so when we heard that about 200 pieces were prepared, it was unbelievable to imagine how long it took to prepare it.
In addition to cheese chicken, there are many other types of fried chicken such as soy sauce, garlic, and salt, and they are re-fried immediately after ordering, so you can get them hot.

Karaage Miyabi's cheese chicken is very delicious, so when you come to campus, go visit them at their food truck in front of AP House and eat it at The Wave to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
