Hello! We are the Tenku Festival Food Department and we are introducing our top 10 Beppu restaurants picks in our "Beppu Tenku Restaurant" event.
The Tenku Festival is unfortunately online again this year due to the coronavirus which is why we wanted to do something that would include the restaurants that had originally planned to have a food stall if the festival was held on campus. After some discussion, we came up with the idea to introduce each place via video and blogs. We can guarantee that you will want to try our restaurant picks after watching! This time, we would like to introduce BAR556 in Kitahama!
The owner is an APU graduate who opened the bar in May 2018 as a "bar that connects people with Oita".
The picture is from the entrance of the store, and on the wall behind the large counter, you can see a variety of drinks. There are always more than 100 kinds of cocktails available at BAR556, and one of the main attractions is that you can drink special cocktails made with ingredients from Oita Prefecture.
The origin of the name of BAR556 comes from the desire to offer a relaxing environment to everyone who visits. The owner is a very friendly person, so you can forget about your daily fatigue and calm your mind by having a delicious drink while talking with the owner and the people who visit the bar with you.
One of the owner's favorite memories at APU was traveling around the world with his APU friends! As one of our seniors, you may be able to hear about that time and what it was like at APU.
The owner recommends APU students to try the sweet dessert cocktails and anniversary cocktails.
The cocktail was made to celebrate APU's 20th anniversary and contains the APU candy that was released to commemorate the occasion, a unique anniversary cocktail that you can't find anywhere else:)
This cocktail is also very cute with a polar bear floating in it!
They make a lot of cute cocktails like this one, and you can also get some rare drinks, so this is a place that can be enjoyed by both people who don't drink often as well as lovers of alcohol.
Since it is a bar, I'm sure some of you are concerned about the price. However, APU students can enjoy a second cocktail for just 500 yen every Tuesday and Saturday.
