Our club aims to share the beauty of the Japanese language and the charm of Japanese culture with more people through Hyakunin Isshu, a traditional collection of 100 Japanese poems.
Our activities focus on two main areas: Competitive Karuta and Waka Interpretation.
In Competitive Karuta, we practice everything from the basics to match-style training, with the goal of achieving good results in competitions. We welcome beginners and aim to create an environment where everyone can enjoy learning and improving together.
In Waka Interpretation, we explore the meanings and backgrounds of the poems in Hyakunin Isshu together. Through sharing different interpretations, we deepen our understanding of the poems and create opportunities for both Japanese and international students to appreciate the beauty of the Japanese language and traditional Japanese culture.
Whether you are interested in competitive Karuta or simply want to learn more about Hyakunin Isshu and Japanese culture, everyone is welcome to join us!
