Vietnamese Week

Vietnamese Week is an annual event held on campus at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), in the city of Beppu, Japan. It belongs to a series of events known as “Multicultural Week”, aiming to promote the exchange of cultural values between international students as well as locals. Officially established in 2003, Vietnamese Week has grown to be one of the most well-known cultural weeks among the student community and become the most anticipated annual event for the Vietnamese community. Starting from 2014, with the coordination from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, Japan, the scale and the event’s influences and coverage keep growing stronger and stronger every year.

Every year during the whole event week, all clubs and groups of Vietnamese students at APU participated in its series of activities. Therefore, each passing “Vietnamese Week” is full of unforgettable memories and can be considered a milestone in the self-development process of both event directors and participants. We believe that they have gained significant improvements in their soft skills, broadened their knowledge of cultural differences and a lot more than that.

Inheriting the legacy from previous years, Vietnamese Week 2023 wishes to continue the mission of propagating the image of Vietnamese national culture, to not only bring entertainment to APU students but also enrich them with cultural values. The theme of this year’s Vietnamese Week will be focusing on a unique aspect that has not been tapped into before, the Cultural Heritage of The Ethnic Minorities, and through that, enlighten the diversity of 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam to the international community. By choosing this theme, we hope it will gain the attention of not only Vietnamese participants, but also the locals and APU students.
